Rally to Save Our Petrosino Square and SoHo's Art—5/25/13

Join the SoHo Alliance at Petrosino Square, Spring and Lafayette Streets, tomorrow, Saturday May 25, at 12pm for community action and festivities to restore our public art space and parkland. Various arts, civic, Italian-American and community groups are organizing the event, with free drawing classes and life models. The press and local electeds have been invited, and the community is counting on you to be there too!

The Alliance is asking the Department of Transportation to move the oversized Citibike station out of the open space—specifically created for the display of public art—and simply relocate it to a street nearby. Our elected officials have sent a letter to DOT, read here, stating:

"... the placement of bike stations in small, pocket parks, in park starved communities is inappropriate - including Petrosino Square Park ... We urge the Department of Transportation to follow through on the previous agreement not to have a docking station within Petrosino Park, and relocate it immediately."
